While some leaders in government, sports, industry and other areas attribute their success to a well-developed sense of competition, a society can better prepare its young people for leadership by instilling in them a sense of cooperation.”

Which element is more essential for developing young people for leadership: a sense of competition or a sense of cooperation? I argue for the author’s favor of the latter approach, instilling a sense of cooperation into young generation. The fact is that an effective leadership depends on cooperation rather on competition and cooperation always leads to the better inspiration among peer groups.

The main reason is that collaboration causes young people to develop their team work ability while competition often contributes to some negative influence, such as corruption and dishonesty. Take common phenomena in most corporation for example, we would like to see closer cooperation between managers and subordinates because an effective leadership is credited with reliability. If a manager is trustworthy, the subordinates are willing to devote themselves to the company. Additionally, people who are hired in a company with a reputational leader intend to protect the business information that is supposed to be secret anyway. In such a fantastic working environment, some ideas needs to be kept in high security would not be divulged to competitors. Furthermore, employees participate in decision making could often generate more positive influence on the culture of corporation. An adequate collaboration and reliability motivate subordinates to work wholeheartedly for their company. Hence, the link between leaders and subordinates should better be inseparable.

The other compelling reason we stress cooperation in nurturing the perspective leaders is that, in such a globalized community today, outstanding leaders with an indifferent inspective and are capable of collaborating with others well is in demand in every field. To become a promising leader, young people are encountering an incredibly competitive world. An efficient cooperation is extremely crucial to make perspective leaders become more qualified to deal with international affairs, peer relationship and projects which require to be collaborated with other people. Fields like Political science, social science, technology, even in educational psychology; comprehensive skill of cooperation with others is an increasingly indispensable component of a competent leader. It’s not surprising to know that cooperation among young people result in considerable effectiveness in successful career.

To conclude, being able to collaborate with other workers becomes more essential in this globalized world nowadays. Besides, cooperation is also a necessary skill for tomorrow’s leaders to face challenges worldwide. A good skill in cooperation in dealing with international relationship is beneficial for becoming superior to other competitors around the world.
